PL1's Birthday

So today is PL1's birthday.Every year for the past several years,PL1+2 have been going to the John F. Kennedy Library on PL'1s birthday. They go because they love JFK,and it reminds them of what was, would could have been and unfortunately what is......We decided that we haven't had one of our famous Boston tours in awhile so here we go....
This is the front of the museum designed by I. M. Pei and it overlooks Dorchester Bay.

If you look closely you can see an outline of a boat.It is JFK's sailboat and it is kept right there(in the nice weather) outside facing the ocean

Look closely and you can see the outline of Boston...

They had a lot of new things one of which was this picture of some of the Kennedy's....

Look at this phone!!! Hard to imagine(and remember).......This was Bobby Kennedy's when he was Attorney General....

Jack + Bobby.......

This is a reconstruction of JFK's oval office and that really was his famous rocking chair....

The desk(remember that famous picture of John John playing under the desk??)

They made this hall look just like the White House Hall.......

Jackie's dress(PL2 thinks she must have had a size 2 waist).....
Look at this guest list for a party in which Pablo Casals was going to play...guests included Leonard Bernstein,William Faulkner,Robert Penn Warren,EB White,John Steinbeck EE Cummings,John Dos Passos,Aaron Copland, and many other famous artists and writers and musiscians. You can see all the handwritten comments made by Jack and Jackie. JFK said that this was the greatest assembly of talent in one place since Thomas Jefferson dined alone!!!!!!!!

John Glenn's famous suit worn by the first American to orbit the earth...

A replica of a campaign office.....

No words needed!

Look at this TV camera!!!!!

This is a replica of the Democratic National Convention in L.A. that nominated JFK for President.(PL1+2 were at the Democratic Convention here in Boston in 2004 but that is another story....)

Check this out! These are household items from the 60's(PL2 remembers fighting her sister for use of that hairdryer ALL the time)

A sweet little postcard sent to Caroline.....

Now look closely at this picture...Do you notice what dog is in the left hand side of the picture???!!!!!! A Wire Fox Terrier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few sage words from the President(from his acceptance speech in the convention..)

The Museum always ends the same way and leaves PL1+2 very sad ............

Well you must have figured out that we were not at the Museum but we stayed home and did some reading........

So PL1+2 are regenerated with values to carry them through one more year, they went on and had a fabulous steak supper, and we would like to wish all of friends and their families a very Merry Christmas !!!!

Thank you for the tour - it is very nice to know also that other wires have parents almost as ancient as mine. Someone told muzzer once that each generation has a seminal moment, and the answer a person gives to a question about that moment will tell you much about that person. For example, "Where were you when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor?" is the question for Gpapa's group. "Where were you when you heard Jack Kennedy was shot?" is the one for muzzer's. Woops, she is sniffling again.

Oh what a wonderful tour. My sister had that EXACT same hair dryer, and she would never let me borrow it.
Oh how the world needs another true statesman..
Thanks again for the fantastic tour.

Happy B-Day PL1!!! That library looks amazing. When my mom goes to Boston, she's going to visit there. Maybe one of you pups could give her the tour. I'm sure you'd be welcome. After all, that is probably your ancestor in that pic.

Hope you two pups have a great holiday. Hope your PLs do too.

Hi A&A, that's a very interesting tour. our mom remembers the 60's and JFK. it was the best of times, then she says it was the worst of times. it was such a dark day in our history when he was assisinated.

that is a nice tradition that your PLs have for PL1s birthday. Happy Happy Birthday PL1. we like traditions too. thanks for sharing that one with us.

Agatha & Archie!

First off, you need to give PL1 some big, wet, and sloppy goober smooches for their special day!

Very cool tour. My girl wasn't quite born when President Kennedy died, but wishes she could have known him. She's never been very excited about any of the presidential candidates she has voted for, and wonders what it must be like to have that kind of fervor and faith in the leadership of a candidate.

Glad your peeps replenished their Aire zen.

Goober love & smooches,
STanley

Thanks for your message on my blog A and A. Actually we ate GOOSE and not Chinese! Boy it smelled good. Mom had never cooked goose - our neighbor bought it but his oven died, so he asked if we could cook it with him and eat it together too. Mom was a bit scared as she'd read it has so much fat it can blow up your oven! tee hee.
Anyway, it came out very good and I got a wee taste...cos it's very fatty....I think I prefer Chinese...so does Mom!
Hugs,
Ax
