A walk around the Reservoir

We took a walk around the Chesnut Hill Reservoir.I think we had way more fun than they did because they kept complaining about these little teeny bugs that were in swarms that they thought they were breathing( as if...) but Archie nearly caught a chipmunk!!!!!!!

It is a lovely reservoir.

As we were turning the corner Archie saw them.....Some of his biggest enemies and REALLY EVIL..........

CANADIAN GEESE and.......

3 SWANS!!!!!!!!!!! Now one might ask why he has a disliking to these lovely birds... They are evil and mean AND NOT VERY NICE!!! AND they are not at all afraid of him and hiss at him( which really makes him madder)

He alerted me to their presence and we decided to gang up on them together but those suckers are fast and swam on....

This swan looks like he is flipping us the bird(hee hee a little humor there get it?!)

So we continued on our merry way( as PL1+2 kept swearing louder and louder at the teeny bugs that were attacking them)

AND THEN IT HAPPENED....a chipmunk ran out RIGHT IN FRONT OF ARCHIE and had a moment of indecision...stared him right in the eyes and ran right next to him!!!!!!!!

Did they catch it on film...were they right there on it catching his (almost) triumphant moment??NOoooooooooo..PL2 went flying and nearly dropped the camera,PL1 nearly had his arm pulled out of its socket,PL2 thought she was filming it BUT FILMED HER SNEAKERS and anyway there was a lot of what sounded to me like swear words during the whole event....Anyway we were right near the end of the walk(PL2 said she was glad because she felt like she had breathed in 4000 of those bugs) so we had a little drink and called it a day..Geesh maybe next time I'll take the camera.......

A & A...Sounds like you had a great day...too bad Archie missed Chip Munk. That's one form of wildlife that doesn't hang around our yard! Tell your PL's that inhaling bugs is a strong protein source...a little soy sauce makes them more palatable! Wish we coulda been there when Arch grabbed for the rodent...your PL's sounded like they were too busy snorting bugs to be on the camera crew!
We're exhausted...had a busy day too...Balloon rides are exhausting!

I'll believe you about the chipmunk! I never have any better success photoing little critters, so don't blame PL1& 2. We mere humans do our best!

Best wishes, pats & pets

PS - my wrist wound is finally starting to heal. Have a scab @ last!!!!!

We want to get at all chipmunks too and eat them up! Bummer that you missed him!

Hi A+A, that sure sounds like an exciting walk. it's really pretty and with wildlife too. too bad about missing the photo opportunity with the chipmunk. you need to train PL1&2 to take photos of those kinds of events.

Whoa. Awesome walk! I like to chase geese. I herd them. And I'm with you--the apes always miss the BEST pictures like that chipmunk's life flashing before his eyes!

What an exciting day!
Now, you didn't hear this from me, but the nice thing about geese is that their doo-doo is DELICIOUS. But I never told you that. (Wink wink.)

ooooh a chipmunk, that sounds very exotic! How exciting.....the only wild life I see on my walkies is hawks, deer and squirrels, plus endless bloomin' rabbits!

But we live in Scotland, so have sympathy with the bugs.....we get horrid things called Midges, a bit like small mosquitos, and horse flys, which give horrid bites and ticks.

Yuk, but apart from all this your walk looked darned exciting to me!

love and licks, Marv xxxxxx aka Louise!

even though there are no photos or video, that is the most exciting story I have heard in a while. I wonder what chipmunk tastes like? chicken?

First off, I hope they let you guys drink first from that bowl. Nothing's worse than drinking after the hoomans.

Second, you guys need a new camera operator. Manning the leash and the camera is fine for those sedate posing shots, but not for ACTION shots. And, you two are all about ACTION!

I'll see what I can scrounge up in the way of a new camera person for you. Don't hold your breath, they're hard to find.

Goober love,
STanley
