Time for a TOUR!!!!

Well it has been mighty sad around our DWB world, and we thought that we all needed something to cheer us all up a little so we thought it was time for a tour...........Pl1+2 had a friend come visit from Amsterdam and he wanted to go to Marblehead.which is a lovely little coastal town so here we go..............

One of the prettiest harbors(we think.......)

Marblehead is very quaint and has lots of nooks and crannies and cute little houses..........

PL2 saw this on a truck and thought it was cute!!!!

Marblehead used to be a big fishing town(well still is really..PL2's brother in law is a lobsterman...but those are not his lobster traps.....)

This is an original Marblehead house from the 1600"s It faces the harbor and when the British were attacking the harbor during the Revolution it fired on this house, which still has the cannon ball shot in the house!! The 2 little brown plaques to the left on the house are the original wood of the house and you can see some cannon shot!

Another beautiful harbor shot...

One of the neat houses and the little plaque tells you when it was built and who originally lived there.....

More harbor........

Marble head claims to be the birthplace of the American Navy(as stated by this plaque) however there is a big dispute between the next town Beverly!!!!!(the first ship was built in M'head but commissioned in Beverly) And it was M'head sailors who rode Washington across the Delaware for the surprise Christmas attack...

Guess what... more harbor!!!!

This is a great house........

As well as having great houses an added attraction(especially for PL2 ) is the great shopping.......

That is the PL's friend in the red!!!

This building was Tory Headquarters.........

PL2 loved this birdhouse(like a buoy!!!)

Some of the plaques on the house........

Cute stone church.....

Town Hall......

Just so you know where you are.....

AND THEN THERE WAS A SURPRISE VISITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEAMUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PL2 is having a lot of trouble moving the pictures around so they are a little out of order..

If you ever come to Marblehead you must come to this restaurant and get their CHOWDA!( that is Massachewsettese for chowder) You have never had ANYTHING like it and they put these sweet little crackers in the soup...MIAM MIAM(as Faya would say) and never mind the BEAUTIFUL vies of the ocean/harbor while you eat..........

Ha ha Shamey on the move.......
A lovely little garden.......

And Seamus taking time to smell the flowers....

We hope this helped everyone a little during these hard times......Know we love you all........Love A+A

What a great tour Of Marblehead Twinnie and Step. (Mom came along for the tour cos it reminded her of a holiday yonks ago she remembers the the beautiful harbour, the pretty houses, the plaques and the fabulous shopping she says) But Bostonians. I'm hanging my head in shame over the cute house with the shot in it. How naughty of the British. Everybloggie should of had a nice cup of tea and talked things over instead.

Now I was on the lookout for lobsters everywhere. Where? Not one. And I didn't even BARK (ok that's a porkie pie,I did a littlie one)when Seamus suddenly appeared. Boy, he's grown into a fine strapping handsome dude. Wait to Lacie sets her mince pies on him. Crickey, have you warned him???

Wiry loves and kissies, Eric xxxx

Now...(Lacie looks up from her American history book, while hummin' Simon & Garfunkel's "Dunno Much About History...")

Let me get this straight...somebody was drinkin' tea and it was Lipton and it stunk so they dumped it in Boston Harbor and it irritated all of Eric's relatives and they came and shot a cannon at that poor house trapping your brother-in-law's lobster??? The lobster survived...Eric's relatives were poor shots...

(Lacie ponders this and decides that some raspberry ice tea might go well with a lobster salad tonight for dinner)

I dunno Aggie...that all seems a bit weird to me...

(She and Scruff and Stan finish the song...

"Don't know much BI OL OG EE...
Don't remember bout the French I Took....
All start to hum forgetting the next line....

Finishing

"What a wonderful world it would be!!!"

In triple terrier harmony...

Comment typed by Mumsie who just got home from bein' on Sunday call and needs her Coke Zero...

Or somethin'....

Love and kisses...

Dear Aggie and Archie,

I want to thank you for the lovely post that obviously took PL2 a jillion hours to put all those amazing pictures up to cheer us all up.

For some reason they made Lacie very hungry, Mumsie wants a glass of whine and some chowda whatever that is, and Scruffy has hearts like above his head like in a cartoon..odd duck.

I, however, want to acknowledge the time and effort you put forth for the blogging world.

It was an excellent post.

Who is Seamus?

Thank you for your time in this matter,

Love,

Babystan

Lobster? We haven't heard about that where we are, at the beach! Sounds like something we should be inquiring about! We loved the tour... makes us want to pack up for another adventure in history.

Thanks for sharing. And, who's Seaums? A water creature? One that lives in the sea?

Curious,
Jake and Fergs

AGatha & Archie!

You guys are such great tour guides (you should consider writing a book about your adventures). And, I can't believe you got to hang out with Seamus! LOoks like a fun little guy!

We hope your mama & dad's friend from Amsterdam had a good time. We know he was fed well, that's for sure.

Thanks for cheering us up. It definitely helps to have seen your faces.

Also, I apologise for my ancestors - fancy firing a canonball at such a beautiful house! ;0D

Marblehead looked just the sort of place we would enjoy, and to meet darling Seamus as well, he looks a fun guy!

Hi A and A!
I love touring with Pl1 and pl2. MA offers so many cute coastal towns. ARchie you know all the historical facts though. I think you should get a job on the commons, dressed in character to tour visitors.

oh.. I grew feathers and changed my sniffer to a peak so I can deal with this weather better.

Ahh, when Mommy lived in Boston, she loved going up to Marblehead for the day. Especially for the Christmas walk! And on July 4th, they light torches all around the harbour - its so pretty (and much quieter than fireworks.) She also agrees about the great shopping! That was very interesting about the Navy, too. Both of Mommy's parents were in the Navy, in fact, Granny liked to remind Grandpa that she outranked him!

Thanks for a fun stroll down Memory Lane!

Your pal,

Petey

So nice to see these photos of our day in Marblehead. And I didn't say it then, but you should know that my favorite part of the whole day was sitting across the table from a real-live Lobsterman. He seemed straight out of a Winslow Homer painting. I think his presence actually made the chowder taste better. Thanks again for taking the day to revisit some wonderful memories and make a new one.

My best to Archie & Agatha.
