Sweet Potatos gone bad

Oh brother,PL2 tried something and we are hoping it is her first and LAST attempt. Butchy and Snickers Mom had a post awhile back with some FABULOUS pictures of food she had made for the holidays INCLUDING sweet potato chews which WE LOVE!!! She posted the recipe and Pl2 was very excited because they are very expensive and we can go through them quite quickly.

So, she went to the super market and bought these........

GENORMOUS sweet potatos...oh yeah this is looking good........

She cut them up and put them in the oven just like Butchys Mom said and after 3 hours they were still alittle soft.PL1 said Maybe they get hard if you leave them out? So she did and they were still soft ....so she put them back in the oven and one of the pieces(unbeknown to her) had jumped ship off the cookie sheet into the oven. Within 10 minutes there was a little smoke from the oven,so off it went. And the results???Guess which is the one she made and which is the original Sam's Yams.......

PLEASE WE BEG YOU.......BUY THEM.....PL2 here,I am going to try again despite what you guys say..This time I will cut them the long way,put the temp a little higher, and perhaps clean the oven befor the next batch)

Don't worry your Mom will get it right. We always tell my mom to keep practicing even if everything comes out great. Brother says that way she keeps making his favorites!! He is one smart kid!!

Oh! Oh! We got a bag of those Sweetly Potato Chewies for Christmas, but the stingy Servant hasn't given us any yet.(Some ridiculous foolishness about too many new yummies at once.) You say they're good? yay!

You should give your PL2 some sugar for trying to make you treats. Reward the effort - they learn quicker that way..

Hmm, the one your mom made sure shrank alot! But it's okay. Just as long it still tastes good...

Maybe she should cut them lengthwise? We don't really like those sweet potato thingys 'cuz we are little brats (that's what Mom says anyway).

Your PL2 gets a double A for effort though!!

Katherine always stands next to mother when cooking. that way, she can alert her if there is anything amiss! Maybe you should do that, as well. AFter all, who will be eating these? You guys! You should review her actions and let her know immediately when she falters.

PS sorry about that whole fire/oven thing. I just informed our mother to get off her fat duff (mother here: SAAAAAMMMM) and try to make some for us. She purchased the sweet potatoes already.

Hey, at least your mama is TRYING! My girl is doing great if she gets us daily food. But, I may try to get her to do this sweet potato deal. I love mooshed sweet taters, so I bet I'd LOVE these.

Let me know how it goes on round 2.

Goober love & smooches,
Stanley

Oh no, too bad the potato fell down into the oven. If you like the slices thicker, you just need to cook them longer. Don't know what might happen if you put the temp. higher cause they are supposed to cook like if they are in a dehydrator. Another tip Mama figured out, store them in an open container, something like a basket. Since there are no preservatives or anything like that, they can mold if in a closed container.
Be sure to give PL2 some kissies for trying!!
