The Origins of Species by Agatha +Archie Darwin

We have been asked to expound on a description of our breed by our dear friend Asta http://astasworld.blogspot.com/ who has started this endeavor. Koobus http://koobuss.blogspot.com/ another dear friend was also asked to do this and did a wonderfull job. We decided to take another approach as our friends have said so much about our character that we thought we would include a description of our origins.(Research and Text by Agatha and Illustrations selected by Archie)

The oldest book in English according to Diana Chads( who has a WONDERFULL book on WFT'S called oddly enough the Wire Fox Terrier) devoted enirely to sport was published in 1409 and was written by the grandson of Edward the III.It included alist of breeds including"terriers"Here is a picture that was included in that book.

In 1557 the Physician to Elizabeth I published a book dividing dogs into breeds including terriers.Another picture from that book
In 1667 in The Gentleman's Recreation there was mention of a small dog who went to ground after game( This is what we did!!!!!) and here is a picture from that book
The Sporting Dictionary of 1803 includes all kinds of terriers. Here is a picute from that book

In 1889 there was a book called the Fox Terrier(picture below)
which brings us up to now as we now look:

Hey Agatha and Archie,
Hehe, Nice work on the research! Very clever I must say :)
I've been doing well here! Just chasing away stray kitties from our yard and taking naps on these lazy hot summer days. I'm looking forward to Fall! You know, I've never seen a "Fall" or "Autumn".. I don't honestly even know what they are, since I'm only 7 months old and all. Mommy and daddy said I'll really like Fall, though. I wonder..

Well, cheers!
Lancelot

Great work. Revisionist history seems to be all the rage -- so why not for WFTs???

Love the illustrations.

We wanted to provide some additional info about our breed, but we think you got it all covered.
